The first lady, Margaret Kenyatta on Thursday delivered the 39th fully kitted Beyond Zero mobile clinic to Garissa County.
Speaking during the handing-over ceremony which was held at Garissa Primary School grounds, the first lady observed that there is a need for accelerated action, and increased support for building stronger county health systems.
"Together we must seek ways to ensure an integrated and comprehensive approach to accelerate our collective efforts. It is for these reasons that I join you today in handing over a fully kitted mobile clinic to Garissa County. It is my hope that this facility which, that offers services to children, women and men too, will effectively serve the people of Garissa County,” she said.
Mrs. Kenyatta also described Garissa as a county on a firm path to economic growth, with enormous potential and steady determination.
She went ahead to thank the Garissa governor, Nathif Jama and the people of Garissa County for the warm welcome and hospitality they displayed. She also lauded the maternal and financial initiative by Garissa first lady, Amina Abdullahi, which seeks to gain the confidence of women and girls. The initiative entails sanitary towels program and advocacy work against FGM, and the providing of school bursaries to lay a solid foundation for girls and women.
