Kisii County First Lady Elizabeth Ongwae on Monday distributed sanitary towels to over 1,500 school girls in Bomachoge Borabu Sub County.
She said the county has partnered with donors to ensure school girls across the county get the pads.
“The sanitary pads will be distributed on a monthly basis to school girls in the county. This will help deal with absentism in school," she said.
She called on male leaders in the county to step up efforts and help improve the girl child education.
“Male politicians should join hands with female leaders to help school girls with sanitary towels to keep them in school," she said.
Elizabeth stated that local leaders criticizing Governor Ongwae’s leadership should wait for 2022 to play dirty politics.
She also told off leaders who lost in the last elections to give the elected leaders humble time to deliver.
