Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta was recognised for her commitment to end maternal and child mortality in the country.

Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) awarded Margaret a prestigious Fellowship of Honoris Causa award, through her Beyond Zero initiative which targets to increase paternity rate in the country.

Speaking in South Africa after receiving the prestigious award, she expressed gratitude for being honored by the globally respected RCOG.

“I am proud to be received as a ‘Fellow Ad Eundeum’ of your illustrations institution. I am especially honored because at the heart of this award is an implicit recognition of Beyond Zero initiative,” she said.

“I hope we will continue living up to the honour you have accoreded us. And I look forward to engaging further, to find areas where we can collaborate towards the shared vision of a healthier world for all people-including women and children,” she added.
