Margret Kenyatta on Sunday took Jubilee campaigns to Kitutu Masaba amid resistance from a host of Gusii people over alleged mistreatment of Chief Justice David Maraga.
On Thursday, a Jubilee caravan led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was flushed out of Nyamira Town, few kilometers from where Mrs Kenyatta was holding a meet tour campaign.
And a few residents who turned up to receive the First Lady faced hostility from a section of youths who had vowed to disrupt the rally.
But intervention by area MP Shadrack Mose quelled yet another standoff with the MP calling for tolerance.
“We are free to reach all corners of the nation and I wonder why we should be that hostile. Let us calm down and give our guest a bit of respect,” he said.
When she stood to address the gathering, the First Lady avoided politics adding that she is keen to have livelihoods of locals improved.
“I am happy to be here and my concern is to have our people’s lives improved,” she said, adding that she would do more of community based events in many years to come.
