First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has thanked Project C.U.R.E staff and its volunteers for undertaking a cause that “takes hope and help to people living in very hard, harsh and hostile environments.”

Mrs Kenyatta was speaking after participating in loading of critical life-saving medical supplies into a 40-foot container destined for Chemolingot Hospital in Baringo County.

The equipment are worth Sh45 million.

She was joined in the exercise by senior staff from Project C.U.R.E led by Chief Executive Officer Dr Doug Jackson, Scottsdale City Mayor Jim Lane and the Governor of Arizona, among other key leaders from Arizona State.

Project C.U.R.E plans to ship to Kenya in coming weeks other equipment.

Beyond Zero campaign plans to distribute to needy hospitals across different counties especially the under-served regions the equipment.

The First Lady assured the donors that the first recipient hospital has been assessed and approved to be the most needy.

“This health facility (Chemolingot) has been through an assessment process, and identified as a hospital most in need of receiving this first shipment,” she said.

She also praised the donors for ensuring the medical supplies meet the needs of the recipient institution.

“I have been assured that medical supplies we are loading here today meet the needs of the health care facility, and will be compatible and useful to the community,” she said.

She was accompanied by Kenyan Ambassador to the US Robison Njeru Githae and Health Principal Secretary Dr Nicholas Muraguri.
