Fishermen in Lake Naivasha are making huge profits following the steady increase of tilapia fish.
Beach management unit chairman David Kilo said the increased fish population has led to good business.
Kilo said the increase in fish numbers is due to increased water volume in the lake due to rains experienced in the area.
Mathew Ngila, Nakuru county fisheries officer said that tilapia accounted for 70% of the total catch.
The officer urged fishermen to restock the tilapia due to the increased number to ensure there is plenty for consumption and sell in the future.
He once the rains disappears, the levels of water will decrease leading to a decreased number of tilapia production.
