The town has been experiencing a high demand for affordable housing for people relocating into the down due to high prospects and rising opportunities that the town offers.

High demand of affordable housing has driven most estates in the town to develop a home friendly environment to live in.

The town is also preferred due to a quite stable bus fare charges from the estates to the CBD unlike Nairobi and Mombasa .

Here are five affordable middle class estates to live in while in Eldoret.

Kapsoya Estate: Of the 5 estates, Kapsoya is at the furthest. However, amenities around the estate attract people to live in here. High-end hospitals like Eldoret Hospital, Mediheal and Moi teaching and Referral Hospital are located around the estate.

It also enjoys high end schools like Moi Girls High School.

Rental housing costs of a two bedroom range between Sh18,000 to Sh25,000 while one bedroom houses range between Sh10,000 and Sh16,000.

Action Estate: The last 3 years have seen an upsurge in the population of Action estate. A 20 minutes walk to town. Despite works still going on the roads and drainage, Action is taking a lead in the growth of real estate in the town.

Rental housing costs between Sh6000 and Sh12000.

Pioneer Estate: A stone throw away to town. Just about Sh20 to town using Langas route Matatus. Rivatex has been for years the driving force for the growth of the estate.

Rental housing costs range between Sh10,000 and Sh25,000 for a two bedroom house.

Mwanzo Estate: Fares ranges between Sh20 to Sh30. The estate is socially active and with a lot of retail shops. Housing costs range from Sh8500 to Sh10,000.

West Indies: A walking distance to the CBD. People in the estate can also rely on Kipkaren route matatu or a bodaboda at Sh50.

The estate was  occupied by Indians during the colonial years. Housing costs range between Sh18,000  and Sh25,000 for two bedrooms.
