Five people were on Monday arrested and arraigned in Nakuru law courts for supplying yogurt without any milk content.
Optimum Yogurt, common to hawkers in Nakuru has been rendered unfit for human consumption as it lacked the milk content.
Thousands of litres of the drink were impounded and all vendors and shopkeepers ordered to withdraw all stock of the product.
The hawkers said they receive Optimum Yogurt from supplies who sell it at low costs compared to other brands.
"We buy Optimum Yogurt at sh40 compared to sh 50 of other brands. Our main customers are passengers at matatu terminuses since its cheap," said a hawker who sought anonymity.
The five were released on a Sh600 thousand bond each waiting for the proceeding of the case on 19th May this year.
