According to David Nyakundi, the owner of the cows, heavy rains resulted prolonged thunderstorms which would eventually be accompanied by lightening.

"I was left in shock after the rains ended. When I checked on cows thereafter, I would only see them lying lifeless," he said.

"I am counting loses as one single cow is worth sh 70,000. It is the first time I am a victim of such a tragedy and I am confused of my next move," added Nyakundi.

He further added that a similar incident had happened in the area four years a go when his close friend also lost 6 cows due to the lighting strike.
