The Council of Governors has nominated 42 of its members for decoration with the coveted Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) medals on Jamhuri Day.

CoG has cited various roles the county bosses have played in their capacity as Governors or before they assumed office.

Five governors are however not in the list.

They are; Isaac Ruto (Bomet), Prof Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Kilifi’s Amason Kingi, Moses Akaranga of Vihiga and his Mandera counterpart Ali Roba.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho has been nominated for spearheading the improvement of the county’s health by renovating children’s and women’s wards.

He has also ensured the improvement of traffic management.

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has been recommended for pioneering and establishing the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board as the secretary and manager.

Peter Munya of Meru has been recommended for his service to the nation as former Assistant Minister in Ministry of East African Community.

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has been recommended for steering his county to national and international recognition after digitising records and automating revenue collection.

The county collected Sh2.6 billion revenue in 2015/2016, an improvement from Sh1 billion in the 2013/2014 financial year.
