Five people are recuperating at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after sustaining panga cuts in Monyerero Sub-Location, in an incident, where a man allegedly attacked his family after a bitter quarrel with his wife.
The incident took place on Thursday morning when a 52 year old man attached his wife with four members of his family using a panga.
John Mokaya, is said to have had a quarrel with his wife before cutting her both arms with a panga. He also inured his daughter, sister, sister-in-law and a neighbour who are at the Kisii hospital.
Confirming the incident in his office on Friday morning, Kisii county police commander Simon Kiragu said the man was attached by angry mob that beat him to death, while the victims sustained arm and head injuries.
“The deceased had domestic issues with his wife and according to the information we gathered from the neighbours, they had squabbles before injuring three of his family members and a neighbour. After doing that he torched his semi-permanent house that induced the wrath of the public who turned against and beat him to death. His body was taken to Kisii Referral mortuary,” accounted Kiragu.
However, commander Kiragu warned members of the public against taking law on their hands and instead said they should report any suspect or criminal to the police for arrest.
