Five passengers were on Thursday injured after a bus lost control in Wajir County after its front wheels came off.
Wajir County Traffic Base Commander James Cheptiony who confirmed the incident said the accident happened between Tarbaj and Lafaley in Wajir County.
Cheptiony said the Mandera bus was heading to Nairobi during the 5pm incident adding that five passengers sustained minor injuries.
According to Cheptiony, the hangers of the front wheels of the vehicle broke making the bus to lose control.
He said only one passenger suffered deep leg injuries as the injured were rushed to Wajir Referral Hospital for treatment.
The commander added that the bus belonging to Makkah bus company was ferrying at least 50 passengers at the time of the incident.
“A bus which was headed to Nairobi from Mandera was involved in an accident after the hangars holding the front tires of the vehicle broke,” said Mr Cheptiony.
According to the Daily Nation, some passengers said such accidents in the area have been caused by the poor state of roads and speeding by drivers.
“The roads in this part of the country are in a really bad state and most of the time we get lucky travelling using the route,” said one of the passengers as quoted by the Daily Nation.
