Five people were on Thursday injured in a road accident at Ng’ombeni, Kwale County along the Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway.Matuga OCPD Japhet Kibuga who confirmed the incident said the accident involved a Peugeot and a Probox.Mr Kibuga said the driver of the Peugeot swerved into the other lane, colliding with the Probox, which was heading in the opposite direction.The OCPD said three passengers who were traveling in the Peugeot and two from the Probox sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.“The Peugeot was heading to Ukunda from Mombasa and the Probox to Mombasa from Ukunda when they collided and five people sustained serious injuries,” said Kibuga.“The victims are receiving treatment at the Diani Hospital. We haven’t received any reports concerning their current condition,” added the OCPD, as quoted by Baraka FM.Three road accidents have occurred along the Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway this week, claiming one life and injuring more than seven.On Tuesday morning, a man was burnt beyond recognition after his car, a Probox, which was transporting charcoal collided head-on with a lorry at Ng’ombeni checkpoint along the Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway.Later that evening, four people sustained injuries when a lorry rammed into a tuktuk in Msambweni area, Kwale County.
