Disciplinary measures will be taken against five invigilators who failed to turn up at an examination center in Kiambu County on Wednesday.
During an examination supervision visit to Kiambu High School, the Principal Secretary State Department for University Education Prof Collette Suda found that only five out of the ten invigilators assigned duties at the institution had turned up at the center, where there were over 150 candidates.
“The relevant authorities have been informed and appropriate administrative measures will be taken against the five,” said Suda.
Prof Suda cautioned examination supervisors and invigilators against laxity asking them to take their assignments seriously, so as to ensure delivery of credible results of the examinations.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Kiambu branch director said the absent invigilators will be replaced immediately.
The school’s Principal, Mr Solomon Maina, said the absent invigilators had not sought permission to be away from the institution.
Earlier, the PS witnessed the opening of the examination papers container at the Kiambu District Commissioner’s office where no incidences were observed.
She asked school principals to remain vigilant and safeguard the exams in a professional manner.
Suda later visited Icaciri Secondary School where the Deputy Head Teacher Pauline Munyiri has been appointed the acting center manager, following the arrest of the School Principal Jane Mbuthi early this week in connection with the murder of Kiru Boys High school principal Solomon Mwangi.
The Deputy Principal said the examinations were going on well at the school, where 107 candidates are sitting their examinations.
Thereafter, the PS visited Muhoho High School where six classrooms were razed during the school fires incidences which took place before the end of second term this year.
The School’s Principal Samuel Kahura said they had overcome the unfortunate incident and that the examinations were going on smoothly.
