Five people died on Saturday in Timboroa after a matatu rammed into an oil tanker along the busy Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

The matatu owned by Eldoret Sacco was traveling towards Eldoret town while the oil tanker was moving towards Nakuru town at the time the accident occurred.

Both drivers of the vehicles died on the spot the Star reported.

By the time of the publication of this story, police had arrived at the accident scene to evacuate the injured to the Moi Teaching and Referal Hospital in Eldoret town.

Locals said the area is marked as a black spot.

The accident occurred hours after a bus belonging to Western Express Sacco rammed into four vehicles in Limuru on Friday evening injuring seven people.

It also came hot on the heels of an incident where a lorry with flammable chemicals knocked 14 cars before exploding near Naivasha.

11 members of President Uhuru Kenyatta's security detail were killed during the incident.
