Five suspects in the murder of a Nakuru businessman will have to wait until Tuesday next week to apply for their release on bond.

Judge Roselyne Korir made the ruling on Wednesday to allow for availing of a probation report on the accused persons on Friday.

They will in the meantime be remanded at Nakuru G.K prison.

The five - Gladys Wambui, Rahab Mukenye, Alex Okwemba and James Muhonja and Nicolas Madegu were charged with the murder of Julius Kimani on December 1, 2017, at Manyani estate within Nakuru county.

Justice Korir also confirmed that the mental assessment has been done and the psychiatric report indicates that the accused persons are fit to stand trial.

They all denied charges.

The prosecution told the court that the state intends to call up to 15 witnesses to testify in the case.

The five are accused of murdering and dumping Kimani's body in a thick vegetation at Manyani area, 15 kilometers away from his home.

Kimani's mutilated body was recovered at Manyani, tied with ropes and had deep injuries on the head, chest, and legs.
