Kenya Commercial Bank has awarded full secondary school fees to five pupils from Machakos county who performed well in the 2017 KCPE.

They are Kelvin Mwendwa who scored 397 marks, Kennedy Kyalo (408), Johnbosco Mutuku (396), Stephen Mativo (402), and Mwethya Mutisya (382).

Each student received a cheque worth Sh54, 000 for school fees and Sh25,000 for shopping.

KCB Machakos branch manager Simon Haloda said the five, who are from humble backgrounds, were selected through a competitive process.

"Our boys have been neglected in a big way. We have always put emphasis on the girl child."

"That is why you will notice that we deliberately settled on more boys for the scholarship this year," Haloda said.

He said that the boys selected for the sponsorship performed very well and have promised to give back to the society in future.
