The Wednesday morning tragedy happened amidst the ongoing heavy downpour in various parts of the country.

According to residents, the collapse of the toilets can be linked to flood waters from Nakuru town that find their way to the school.

Residents are now calling on the elected leaders from the MCA to the county boss to step in and ensure the issue of drainage is addressed.

“These toilets have just collapsed because of the flood waters that come all the way from town. We want the area MCA to step in and ensure the drainage is addressed,” a resident said.

Speaking to the press when he visited the school following the tragedy, Nakuru County Executive Committee Member for Education Raymond Komen said the county will look on how to ensure safety of children while in school.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Nakuru County Director for Environment Kiogora Mureithi.
