Residents of Kiambu town have been assured of their security after a series of robbery attacks by a local criminal gang.
The thugs have allegedly been using crude weapons to conduct burglary activities in Kiambu town and its environs.
This comes after the public in collaboration with the police on Friday night gunned down five robbers that are believed to have been terrorising residents.
According to James Kiragu, a resident who witnessed the killing of the five, all the robbers were middle-aged.
They were caught unawares after a member of the public saw them sneaking in a mini-supermarket and secretly informed the police and some members of the public all who pursued them to death.
“The five were killed while trying to escape arrest by police and members of the public all who were later assembled together after they were shot. The police responded fast after a man who saw them informed them while the goons were trying to sneak a mini-supermarket,” said Kiragu.
Martin Muendo a police officer who led the operation confirmed the killing of the five acclaiming members of the public for their volunteered information.
He urged residents to go about their businesses without fear of being terrorised citing that the police were on the look out to ensure the safety of residents.
