A breakup is usually a very stressful encounter for both the body and the mind. The hurt associated with a breakup makes one feel like they will never be able to love again. Your weight changes
Some people lose appetite completely after going through a breakup. Others engage in binge eating which stimulates the release of dopamine which makes them feel better. A breakup can, therefore, cause an increase or a decrease in weight depending on one's personality.
You will suffer depression
Serious sadness and grieving after a breakup of a romantic relationship is usually normal, but persistent grief and sense of loss can be a sign of clinical depression. However, those suffering from it have thoughts of vices such as committing suicide, drug abuse among others.
Your sex drive declines
Usually, your sex drive temporarily goes on hold due to emotional torture. Although you might think that a first aid hookup will cure the bleeding heart, you will realize it's really difficult to freely express your romantic feelings to the next partner.
You suffer from insomnia
This is a sleeping disorder that causes inability to sleep. It can be associated with a breakup whereby all your thoughts are fixed to revisiting the past memories between you and your partner. You might experience a heart attack
Heartbreak causes a certain type of chest pain known as stress cardiomyopathy. This is where the heart undergoes abnormal contractions in the middle and upper portions of the heart. The abnormal heart rhythms induced by stress resemble those of people undergoing a heart attack. These can sometimes aggravate into an actual heart attack.
