Police have gunned down five suspected thugs said to have terrorized traders in Kisumu.
They were gunned down after being trailed by police from Kisumu town.
Police successfully trailed them to Vihiga where they are suspected to have gone to conduct robberies.
Police said the five robbed two businessmen, Ally Muhammed and Imran Juma off electronic and household items at Tom Mboya estate in Kisumu.
The incident happened at 3pm.
"We had returned home, and while Juma was going to the house to pick some item, he found the suspects leaving our house," Mr Muhammed said.
The officers accosted the gangsters at Majengo in Vihiga shortly before 5pm during the Sunday incident.
Flying squad officer trailed them to Vihiga.
They had a homemade gun, Western Region Police Commander Jasper Ombati told the press.
Their bodies were taken to the Vihiga District Hospital mortuary.
