Rachel Ruto toasts with Margaret Kenyatta. The duo seems to have a lot in common. [Photo/the-star.co.ke]President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are perhaps the coolest duo to ever lead Kenya in terms of having good chemistry and demystifying the presidency. They seem to share and agree on a lot of things and rarely are they reported to have disagreed on anything since taking the presidency in 2013.But did you know that just like the two, their wives also seem to share a number of aspects in their public lives? Here are some of them. Both ladies were born in the '60s. First Lady Margaret Kenyatta was born on April 8, 1964, while Rachael Ruto was born on November 20, 1968.They both attended Kenyatta University at different times and graduated with Bachelor degrees in Education. Both ladies were involved actively in their husbands' campaigns in the run-up to 2013 elections. While Margaret could be seen by Uhuru's side in many rallies, Rachael is said to have been instrumental in the formation of the now defunct URP Party.Since their husbands' election in 2013, both have been involved in community welfare activities aimed at alleviating poverty and suffering, something that has earned them international recognition. Margaret has been running the Beyond Zero campaign to reduce maternal and child mortality. In 2014, she was named UN Person of the Year for Kenya.Rachael, on the other hand, runs her activities under the auspices of JoyWo (Joyful Women), an umbrella NGO she founded in 2009. In 2014, she was awarded the International Honorary Fellowship Award On Women's Empowerment at the Binary University in Malaysia. Finally, both ladies wear short natural hair.
