Professor Anyang Nyong'o is one of the famous politicians from the Western region as he has been an influential player in the country's politics.
Nyong'o is currently the Kisumu Governor after succeeding Jack Ranguma.

1. ODM Party leader
When you speak of the Orange Democratic Movement Party leader many people know it is Raila Odinga but Professor Anyang Nyong'o once served as the ODM's acting party leader when Raila Odinga was in the United States.
2. Served as a student leader
While studying at the University of Makerere, Professor Nyong'o was elected as a student leader.
3. He has been a lecturer
Nyong'o took teaching positions at the University of Nairobi, where he was a professor of political science and a visiting Professor in Universities in Mexico and Addis Ababa, where he served until 1987 before taking up the position of head of programs at the African Academy of Sciences.
4. First class honors degree
Professor Anyang Nyong'o completed his undergraduate studies at Uganda's Makerere University, where he was awarded a first class honours degree in Political science.
5. Father of six
Many people think the Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyong'o is the only child of the Kisumu County Governor but that is not the case as Nyong'o is a father of six.
