The five are reportedly said to have been terrorizing residents of lower Kabete in Kiambu County on rampant cases using crude weapons.

Among the weapons recovered by police during the morning operation included, knives and homemade guns, which police suspected could have been used to create fear among the residents as the goons performed their robbery activities.

Lower Kabete OCPD Birgen Kiptoo confirmed the arrest of the five youngsters, assuring that the students would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.

"We are holding them as we investigate cases of break-ins around the area," said Kiptoo, adding that they were committed to ending societal vices in the area.

He appealed to the residents to volunteer information about lawless activities in the area, adding that early reporting could help police in quick investigations.

A section of comrades at the institution has in the past been suspected of indulging in misconduct and drugs within and out of its campuses.

In April this year, police revealed 25 kgs of bhang, blood blemished knives among other crude weapons during an eight hour raid of the University hostels following demonstrations in the institution.
