It takes courage and experience to become a great public speaker.   Sight nervousness and paralyzing fear are among the reasons why many people do not perform well when it comes to public speaking.  There are persons who were born great public speakers while others learn. Here are ways to overcome the fear of public speaking.1. Understand the topic Make sure you understand the topic you want to talk about before the d-day.  Ensure you research the topic before you start addressing the same. Proper research reduces chances of making mistakes.

2. Be organized

Carefully organize the information you would like to present. Outline the information on small cards and go through the same before the day of the public speaking.  

3. Practice 

Rehearse before the day of delivering the lecturer. Rehearsing will boost your level of confidence and make you prepared to do well when that day comes.  Practice the entire presentation several times in order to perfect on the same. While rehearsing, make sure you pay attention to areas you feel like you have not understood.

4. Don't fear silence

It is common for the audience to remain silent when you are delivering your speech. There is no reason to panic when this happens.  Silence at times can mean that the audience is impressed with the topic you are handling. However, you need to read facial expressions of the members of your audience in order to keep the attention. It is common to realize that you are speaking to your sleeping. If the silence takes too long then something is likely to be wrong somewhere. You need to make sure that the audience is part of the lecture.
