Speaking on Wednesday along the feeder road, they were categorical that further delay might render the place impassable during the long rains, which are a norm in the month of March at the region.

They also expressed their concern about the use of human labour to construct the road, arguing that the efforts might not be adequate to guarantee them a standard road.

“The contractor is playing double standards. He has been seen around at times and he has occasionally gone missing. This will make it difficult if the road remains in this state when the rains come. We are appealing to the county government to expedite the process,” said Evans Omweri.

“It is a joke to use human labour in levelling a road of this caliber. This should be done by tractors for longevity of the feeder road,” Jane Nyanchama said.

They gave the contractor an ultimatum of four days, which expires on Saturday to complete the feeder road or else face the wrath of area residents.

“We are giving the contractor, whoever he is to complete this road in four days’ time before we present our grievances to the county boss,” said Oyaro Ochoki.

The feeder road is vital in the place by not only acting as a short cut between the two suburbs but also leads to key institutions such as Kisii University and Nyaura Mixed secondary.
