The new development opened a warpath between the federation and its biggest branch in western Kenya after the affected officials vowed to stay put.

In a reaction to the court decision, FKF through secretary and CEO Robert Muthomi, moved to hand over lengthy four-year suspensions to Patrick Lubembe (chairman) and Rodgers Chite (secretary).

In the letter to the two affected officials and copied to the FKF executive committee and the Kakamega branch of the federation, Muthomi states that the two have been suspended in accordance to Article 14 (1-2) of the federation constitution which gives the federation powers to suspend errant members.

“You are hereby suspended from all football activities for a period of four years, consequently, you stand to lose all your membership rights with immediate effect for the said period as per the Article 14 (3),” the letter states.

In an immediate reaction to the new development, Lubembe laughed off the decision by the federation spokesman, insisting he is still in office and will continue serving his branch and members.

“This is in bad taste and ill-timed aimed at frustrating our efforts of injecting new ideas and dynamic leadership in the sport and restore its past glory that has waned due to poor leadership,” said Lubembe.
