[Photo/footballkenya.org] Football Kenya Federation (FKF) leadership has been applauded for improving the Standards of Women Foot ball in the Country.Kisumu Hot Stars Communication and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Beryl Adhiambo Okwach said that women football standards have improved since FKF Chairman Nick Mwendwa and his team came into office in February 2016.Okwach, who played for national Women’s soccer team Harambee Starlets as a goalkeeper in 2005 and 2006, said during her time there was no competitive Women’s Premier League.“During my playing days, we had no active Women’s premier league but we now have the Women Premier League Zone A and B which means things have changed for the better,” she said.“We can now see Harambee Starlets competing in CECAFA and AFCON tournaments for Women which never happened during our days. We are steadily heading in the right direction,” she said.The PRO said Kisumu Hot Stars is preparing for Division One Zone B matches this season with an aim of topping the league in order to be promoted to the National Super League (NSL) next year.Last year, the team finished 5th with 33 points. Kisumu Hot Stars was expected to join NSL this season to replace Palos FC before Kisumu County government decided to form Kisumu All-Stars to replace Palos.Kisumu based Palos FC withdrew from the league at the end of last year due to financial constraints
