Football Federation of Kenya has officially canceled the derby match between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.
The announcement came on Wednesday, after days of unclear communication about the match.
AFC had insisted that the match will go on as planned and that they will not cancel it for any reason in the world.
However, the match has been called off and all parties agreed to push it to a later date.
“After consultations with the KPL Executive Committee, this is to confirm that the AFC Leopards SC vs Gor Mahia FC match that was scheduled to be played at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, 26 May 2018 has been postponed.
“A new date and venue for the match will be communicated next week after consultation with the home team, AFC Leopards SC,” part of the statement signed by KPL CEO, Jack Oguda, read.
Gor lead the SPL standings on 31 points from 13 games, six more than domestic cup winners Leopards who have played three more games.
The two teams played out to a stalemate when they met last in a match that was to decide who will face English side Hull City but Gor eventually won on penalties.
