Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has revealed that the pool A matches for the Cecafa senior challenge tourney which were to be played at the Moi Stadium Kisumu will now shift to the Kenyatta stadium in Machakos.
According to the federation's president Nick Mwendwa's, the decision was arrived at following security concerns triggered by pockets of political protests that have plagued the lakeside city.
"Teams have requsted that we move matches from Kisumu because of the current political situation in the country.We have decided to move matches to Machakos for the time being as we monitor the sitiation in Kisumu", Mwendwa revealed to Goal Kenya.
Group A matches comprise hosts Kenya,Rwanda,Zanzibar,Tanzania and Libya While Group B includes defending champions Uganda Cranes ,Zimbabwe,Burundi, South Sudan and Ethiopia.The group B matches have not been affected and will go on as scheduled at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
The bonanza will kick off on December 3 with hosts Kenya taking on Rwanda's Amavubi in their opening match.
