Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa has called on more sponsors to come in and support football in the country.

Mwendwa says the anticipated government funding and project funding from FIFA are not enough to sustain football activities in the country.

With the Kenya Premier League 2018 season set to kick off next month, Mwendwa, has assured football fans and stakeholders of the League’s commencement, in the backdrop of the confusion in regards to the sponsorship of the league.

And with this year’s events calendar already out with numerous activities scheduled, Mwendwa has warned of the repercussions to follow in the event the Government doesn’t fill the void left after betting company Sportpesa pulled out of their sponsorship deal with the federation.

Meanwhile, the Federation’s chief has dismissed Muhoroni Youth’s attempts to obtain an injunction stopping the resumption of the League come February 2nd. 

The team claims their relegation from the top tier league was unfair.
