Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman Nick Mwendwa has unveiled Harambee Stars new coach.
Former Burkina Faso coach Paul Put is now Stars coach following his unveiling during FKF Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mombasa.
The 61 year old Belgian has signed a two-year renewable contract; taking the reins from under fire Stanly Okumbi who will now serve as his assistant.
The new coach’s first assignment is to assemble a competitive squad that will represent Kenya in the upcoming Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.
The tournament kicks off in Kenya on December 03, with the final match set for December 17.
According to goal.com, Paul Put has promised to help facilitate the growth of football in this country.
“I have been following Kenya for a while now and I know what the fans want from a coach like me. I am confident that with support from the federation, I can turn around the fortunes of the country,” he said.
Put is widely remembered for steering Burkina Faso to the final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. The Stallions lost to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
He has also coached Gambia and Jordan national soccer teams.
He joins Harambee Stars from Algerian giants USM Alger.
