Football Kenya Federation Vice Chairperson Doris Petra is now among the five new Executive Committee members of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA).

Petra was elected during a CECAFA Congress meeting held in Nairobi, on Saturday.

Petra was elected alongside four others.

They were unanimously elected in the posts that had attracted a total of eight candidates after three others opted out.

The new members will join incumbent CECAFA president Mutasim Gafar of Sudan in the running of the region’s top football office for the next two calendar years, up to 2019.

Other elected leaders are Juneid Basha Tilmo (Ethiopia), Abdiqaani Arab Said (Somalia), Aimable Habimana (Burundi) and Wallace Karia (Tanzania).

Petra, who formerly served as FKF Leagues and Competitions Manager, is among few women in top leadership positions in football associations in Africa, and the world.

She joins another Kenyan Nicholas Musonye in the leadership of CECAFA.

Musoye is CECAFA’s Secretary General.
