[Photo|Courtesy]Flamboyant Ugandan Prophet, Elvis Mbonye was the centre of all eyes at his dinner held at Kololo Independence Grounds on Friday. This is after members of his church, shocked many by bowing down to kiss his feet. Tickets for Mbonye's dinner were 1 million Ugandan Shillings for platinum, 750,000 for gold, 500,000 for silver, and 300,000 for “general happiness.”Despite the exorbitant amount, the venue was full packed. The prophet came to the event complete with chase cars and bodyguards, and walked on a red carpet.
Mbonye who is believed to worth millions of dollars and a range of expensive cars, and mansions was seen sitting on a gold white chair as his church members came one by one to kiss his feet.“I have seen God and I will be answerable to Him. I do not get into people’s faces... they come to me...I’m not a pastor that I should frequently be with the sheep. As a prophet I decree the final thing,” said Mbonye. The charismatic pastor was quoted saying that he had been to heaven, and to him, heaven was a glamorous place and so he had no reason to live differently on earth.
“Hell is stuffy, poor, sickly, and degrading. I have been to heaven and it is a glamorous place with streets of gold. All attributes about God are glamour and beauty and I’m of God, so I will unapologetically be always on the side of what is rich.""I have heard shallow debates where politicians defend themselves for being in air-conditioned cars. You want me to be in a car where I sweat?"It is believed many people have lambasted Mbonye, accusing him of brainwashing people and earning praises for himself instead of God.
His lavish lifestyle has been condemned too with many asking him to use the money he collects from his members to help the poor and needy in his church instead of lavishing it on himself.Editor's Note: This article first appeared on tori.ng
