Speaking after touring the ward on Friday, the MCA observed that the rate of insecurity is escalating in the area, saying he has received various complaints from the residents over rising insecurity.

The MCA asked for more police deployment and more security patrols in a bid to curb the crime rates.

“I want to ask the county and the national government to improve security in this area, add more officers if that is the only way to improve the security,” said Gichagi.

The MCA indicated that residents have a right to security as stipulated for in the constitution.

Moses Kimani, a resident observed that cases of mugging are on the rise, adding that criminals are terrorising the area and that their appeals to the police have not borne fruits.

“People are being mugged and robbed in the broad day light, you wonder if we have police officers in the area,” said Kimani.

Meanwhile, a section of residents in the ward have opposed plans by the county government to increase rental fees for those residing in government houses.

The residents claimed that the proposed fee increment did not consider their interests.

Mercy Kahindi, a business lady in the ward said that the government is keen to increase rent, yet they don’t offer good services.

She complained that the houses are in poor state with poor drainage systems and lack of sufficient water supply.

“It’s ironical that the government want to increase rent yet the services being offered are poor,” said Kahindi.

The MCA asked the government to consult the tenants before going ahead to implement the proposal.
