Flamingo MCA Moses Gichangi has hit out at the youth in the area for the increased cases of illicit brew consumption.
Gichangi said that the increased consumption of illegal liquor in the area was affecting productivity levels of the men in the area.
Speaking to the press on Monday, the MCA pointed out that they will engage the youths more in clean-up exercises to divert their attention from drinking
“It is unfortunate that majority of the youths are engaged in drinking chang’aa. We intend to start clean-up exercises in the area to divert their attention to something else,” he said.
He appealed to the youths to check into rehabilitation centres and other counselling organisations before the situation worsened.
“It is unfortunate that a habitual drunkard can become addicted to the alcohol and hence affect his ability to move or even work. I am appealing to the youths in my area to refrain from taking drugs so that they can engage in political debates with their leaders,” he pointed out.
He also appealed to Nacada chairman John Mututho to assist them with the grassroots rehabilitation exercise.
“We are ready to work with him and even give him the names of some of the youths who are in dire need of rehabilitation,” said Gichangi.
