Residents living in Dekaharja ward, Fafi constituency are counting huge loses after their houses and essential valuables were washed away by the heavy rains that pounded the area.
The raging floods also rendered most of the road in the ward impassable, obstructing humanitarians aid to the distressed, displaced residents.
They have resorted to erect makeshift structures under the trees to insulate themselves and their vulnerable children from endangered species and cold weather.
A resident who identified himself as Abdullahi has lamented that despite the rains caused more harm to them, the local leaders have turned a deaf ear on their tribulations.
"The rains were a blessing from God and we thank Almighty God for that. However, the huge floods have swept away our houses and other valuables and this has forced us to seek shelter under the trees. Thus, we really need urgent humanitarian needs to help us get out of this devastation we are in," said Abdullahi.
The residents have further added that the impassable roads in the area have aggravated the situation, making it impossible any rescue efforts that could have been extended to them.
While speaking to the press, the ward administrator has expressed the possibility of an outbreak of water-borne diseases as the residents consume untreated water from contaminated dams.
" The residents are consuming untreated water from dams, and we suspect this could trigger an outbreak of water-borne diseases," said the ward administrator.
The residents have pleaded with the national and county government to help them with the basic necessitates such as mattresses and foods, and help them re-build their displaced houses lest the vagaries of weather could expose them contentious diseases such as pneumonia.
