Heavy flooding has halted the construction of a Sh200 million bridge across Tana River. The bridge is intended to facilitate trade and address cases of crocodile attacks. The construction works at Bura Kofira in Garsen Constituency kicked off last year. The contractor, Tunasco Insaat, has stated that its engineers and other technical team had to abandon the work due to the rising river. “One of the challenges we have been facing is the unpredictable rise and fall of water level hence making it sometimes difficult to plan but the under water works are now complete and what remains is easily manageable."
