Mombasa County on Tuesday experienced heavy rains causing floods in some areas of the city, a day after the County government unveiled the disaster management team.
Floods were witnessed in various streets in Mombasa town and residential areas, affecting transport and normal operations.
Ganjoni and Moons area were among the affected as rains pounded for the rest of the day.
The County government released emergency contact numbers to the public over fears of disaster in the event heavy rains pound in the coastal county.
This even as the County government officially activated the Disaster Management Committee to carry out an operation to mitigate the effects of the anticipated heavy rains.
The committee, comprising of officers from various departments and the Sub-county Administration, has already set up rescue teams and Disaster Management Centres in various sub-counties with special attention to areas prone to flooding.Below are photos following heavy rains on Tuesday.
