Fly 540 will now resume its flights to Dar es Salaam after suspending its services to the region five years ago after it went into a partnership deal with a local airline under code-sharing arrangement that later failed.
While issuing a statement on Monday, the Fly 540 corporate and industry affairs director Nixon Ooko noted that the airliner will operate three flights between the two countries for three days in a week as it has even expanded an additional route to Mombasa.
The airliner will fly through Nairobi- Dar es Salaam- Nairobi route on Fridays and Nairobi-Dar-Mombasa-Nairobi routes on Wednesdays. The airliner will also fly on Sundays via the Nairobi-Mombasa-Dar-Nairobi route.
“We are just resuming where we left it, but with an additional route of Mombasa, which has a potential of giving us good numbers,” said Nixon Ooko
Nixon added that the new route to Dar es Salaam via Mombasa was introduced due to much linking between the two towns cities and that no airliner has served that route before.
He also noted that the passengers return tickets will go for Sh 30,000 as compared to Sh 35,000 being charged by other firms and thus will bring a good competition with other local airliners.
The airline has however remained tight-lipped on the identification of the company it wanted to partner with before pulling out its flights to Dar es Salaam.
