A voters listing exercise in Kisumu was on Tuesday morning was disrupted by rowdy youth forcing the intervention of police officers.

Residents said youth violently forced themselves to register, prompting the arrest of one of them by the flying squad police officers.

The man was taken to Kisumu Central Police station but was released moments after the intervention of OCS John Thiringi and an ODM official.

Thiringi calmed down the youth who had lit fire at the bus park appealing to them to be peaceful and not interfere with activities at the bus park.

The police boss maintained that there is need for the police and members of the public to work together to ensure people register as voters.
