The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has been asked to also put in place measures that will help reduce accidents that involve boda-boda riders.Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson Aruasa says motorcycle accidents contribute a to a large percentage of admissions in hospitals across the country.Dr. Aruasa expressed the need for NTSA together with the traffic police to initiate a training program for all riders on traffic and road safety rules."The orthopaedic and trauma units in our hospitals are full of people involved in accidents most of which are caused by motorcycles," noted Dr. Aruasa."Many of the bodaboda operators are not trained on basic traffic laws and we need to work on that aspect so as to curb the accidents such riders cause," he added.The MTRH boss further revealed that hospitals mainly in Rift Valley are now overburdened by the high number of accident victims following a series of fatal accidents that were witnessed along the busy Eldoret-Nakuru highway.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
