The MCA, Mercy Nungari said it was time elected leaders followed in the footsteps of President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga following their surprise meeting on Friday.

She said a lot of politicking was hurting the country's development progress and service delivery to citizens.

"Let us not always be politicking day after another. When will we bring development to the people of this country? We will have ourselves to blame if we do not follow the already set footsteps," said the MCA during a Saturday morning show on a local station.

The MCA also asked the leaders to shun baseless politics on ethnicity and division.

“As Raila and Uhuru have done we have to be accountable to the people of Kenya. As an example of a good leader of this country, I have to tell the people what I have done for them before I can go tell them about the problems of a fellow leader. This is the only way to move forward otherwise the blame game of who has not done what will remain,” she added.
