Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has launched a pilot Food Security Program in Ndeiya Limuru.
Ichung'wa who was speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Kikuyu said that project will be launched in Ndeiya since it has been affected by food shortage.
Currently 23 regions in the country has been affected by by food shortage.
"As you have heard there are various places in the country facing food shortage; Ndeiya is not an exception as we had crop failure last season due to lack of rain,"said Ichung'wa.
The MP has said that the Office of the President has initiated the Food Security Program.
He added that the pilot program at Ndeiya which will later be rolled out to all other places facing hunger is aimed at empowering farmers through farm inputs.
"We will be giving seeds and fertilizers to the farmers. We will later dig them bore-holes so that there is no over-reliance of rainfall," said Ichung'wa.
He also dispelled rumors that the project is sponsored by the county government.
