A food vendor was arrested in Kikuyu town after he was found selling food to residents without a permit and defying rules from the public health office following cholera outbreak. Confirming the incident the public health officer in Kikuyu Sub county Rose Wairimu explained that the woman had hidden the food in a bucket and selling it secretively. “The woman had not qualified to have a public permit and neither did she have it. She was not considering people’s health as she had cooked the food where officers didn’t know and coming to sell to members of the public,” said Wairimu. She added that the woman will be charged and dealt with according to the law. “I want to caution members of the public to consider their health first before buying such meals. Cholera is a killer disease and residents should consider what they take in their mouths before purchasing. Most of them even don’t care where the food was cooked,” said the public health officer. She asked members of the public to also report of such vendors as they are posing a threat to their own health.
