Kakamega High School's Green Commandos have made history by being the first school to qualify for the national league.

The side beat Eldoret Youth to gain entry to the National Super League (NSL) season 2018 courtesy of topping their Division One Zone B table.

They will now be among the 20 teams that will grace the 2018 NSL season.

Green Commandos currently have 52 points from 23 games, 4 points ahead of second-placed Timsales FC.

Head coach Brendan Mwinamo says their entry was long overdue and has promised a worthy fight after promotion.

"The journey has been very tough, we were to go nto the NSL last year, but we lost our opportunity after finishing third,” Mwinamo said as reported by Citizen.

“Our secret card has been focus, intense training and discipline. It’s not been easy to balance education with the expectations of the league. We will face the same challenge next season but we will strive to succeed. Despite this, we have made it into the NSL, though our primary target is to play in the Premier League,” he added.
