I cannot help rating activities or skills by how much use they are when we get into difficulties.

I suppose what i am trying to say is that i would prefer to see the recognition of real achievers in something really representative of human development and the furthering of our cause.
Whereas we do seem to attach more significance to lighter things, as if they are at the pinnacle of our achievement by this 21st century.
Is it really what we have evolved to do,is it to become our main purpose?
