Students of Nyamweru Secondary School in Kiambu County have a reason to smile after their head teacher returned to school.
The students had been saving money after selling Mandazi to raise cash for the teacher, Simon Ng’ang’a’s kidney transplant.
Ng’ang’a had been suffering from a kidney failure for a long time and he was supposed to fly to India for a kidney transplant thus he was unable to raise the money.
The students decided to help their teacher raise the money by baking and selling mandazi both in school and to the community.
Ng’ang’a, who also doubles up as the English teacher in the school, needed 1.4 million for his kidney transplant and fortunately due to the love by his students they raised 3 million from their mandazi sales.
His comeback was one of great pleasure by both the students and the staff considering the help and concern they had shown him in his sickness.
The school now plans to hold a welcoming party for Ng’ang’a soon as he recovers fully and according to the school administration, they will be hosting famous people in the party.
Ng’ang’a has now recovered and is back to work though he has been advised by his doctor to take simple jobs within the next six months.
