Despite his resilient and determination to ensure Jubilee wins, DP President William Ruto is a man under siege back at his Rift Valley backyard.
In what is viewed as a battle of supremacy, Ruto is entangled in a host of political wars ranging from his former allies and traditional political enemies.
Notably, Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has been on his neck and his influence through Chama Cha Mashinani party has threatened Jubilee party’s dominance in South Rift.
During his tour in Rift Valley recently, Ruto came to reality with harsh reception when he tried to champion for infamous six piece voting method.
Youthful MPs Johanna Ng’eno and Narok West legislator Patrick Ntutu have been leading an onslaught alongside Rutto in the greater South Rift region.
Surprisingly, long-term Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot has also joined forces with the rebels and has been in the frontline articulating NASA agenda in the region believed to be Jubilee stronghold.
Although Ruto managed to quell another growing insurgency by a section of North Rift leaders led by Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago, the influence of KANU’s Gideon Moi in the vast region has been also his headache.
NASA is said to be planning a major onslaught in the region which pundits have been claiming that could swing in favour of either side.
