Three legislators among them Turkana Senator John Munyes, Turkana East MP Nicholas Ngikor and his Lunga Lunga counterpart Khatib Mwashetani are on Thursday set to face the Ford Kenya Party disciplinary committee over their defection to JUbilee Party.
The lawmakers were summoned by the party to explain why they should not be subjected to a by-election following the defection.
In another summon letter sent to the legislators on Wednesday, the party indicated that it had reached the decision following an official announcement by the three that they had moved to the newly formed Jubilee Party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We write to you to show cause why your name should not be struck from the party register under provisions of section 14(3)(4) and (5a-e) of the Political Parties Act 2011and subsequent invocation of Article 113 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010,” the summons said in part.
“You officially and voluntarily decamped to Jubilee Party during its official launch on 10th September 2016 at Kasarani stadium, Nairobi."
According to the party's top brass, the summons are meant to instill discipline and good conduct among members.
